AUDITION
Rolling applications are open to singers aged 8 to 18.
New Voices Australia is a high-level youth vocal ensemble celebrating extraordinary young voices aged 8 to 18. We exist to showcase exceptional Australian talent through a digital-first approach: think fewer eisteddfods, more releases.
We’re a selective ensemble. We’re looking for singers who bring:
Open to singers in primary school (Juniors) or high school (Seniors) at the time of audition.
Applicants must be available for all rehearsals and filming days. A parent or guardian must provide consent for participation and videography. We’re a high-level ensemble, so experience working professionally or at professional level is desirable, though not required.
The programme
Programme fee: A$430. Payment plans and scholarships available; just ask. Full details on the parents page →.
1. Solo (required)
At least 60 seconds of vocal performance that best showcases your talent. Film something specifically for this submission, straight to camera, self-tape style. Nothing out of date, nothing with poor audio.
2. Harmony (required for new auditions)
The ability to find and hold a part independently is central to everything we make at NVA. Sing one of the given parts alongside the provided melody line. Choose either the Sop 2 or Alto line. Don’t sing the melody, and please don’t submit a unison recording. Harmony tracks and music →
Optional extra: record a harmony part over a song of your choice. A second line, a third, a counter-melody, anything that sits alongside the original. Play the track through speakers so we can hear the blend.
3. Dance and movement (optional)
If you’d like to be considered for dance features, submit one or two styles, around 60 seconds total. Class or performance footage is fine if it’s from the last six months.
Filming notes: full face and upper body clearly visible, clear audio, no echo-y rooms. Phone footage is completely fine.
If harmony is a real stretch right now, a future intake might be a better fit. You can submit a rolling application when you are ready.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. We may not be in contact until the beginning of the next audition period.
Every application is reviewed. Shortlisted applicants may be asked for additional material. Everyone receives a written outcome, and successful applicants receive a welcome pack with all programme details.
All positions, features, solos and voice parts are decided from the submitted audition pack. Not all confirmed participants will receive a feature, and all decisions are final.
Ready to go? The whole application takes about ten minutes once your videos are filmed.
